If Bruce Pascoe Wants Our Respect, He Deserves Our Scrutiny**

On the 7th of January 2021, we predicted that Bruce Pascoe and his Dark Emu thesis had reached it’s zenith in a blog post we titled, Dark Emu - Going, Going, Almost Gone......

Now on the 29th of July 2021, we can say that our prediction of the demise of Bruce Pascoe and his Dark Emu thesis is pretty much going as we expected, indeed even as we planned.*

Finally, our work has paved the way for others, often on ‘The Left’, to publish their own works of scrutiny on Bruce Pascoe and his Dark Emu.

See the several articles by David Hardaker at Crikey! , Stan Grant’s dipping of his toe (before he puts a bigger ‘boot in’?) into Bruce’s Dark Emu pond in the ‘Leftie’ The Monthly magazine, and the ‘Left-wing’ big guns of academics Ian Keen, and Peter Sutton & Keryn Walshe .

Now, there will be something of re-grouping of ‘Pascoe’s foot-soldiers’ in an effort to mount a push-back to rescue the Professor’s reputation. For example, see the soothing words from ‘The Academic’s Safe Space’ that is The Conversation here , here and here.

However, our prediction is that, in educated Academic circles [sic], Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu is as dead in the water as if it had drunk the poison that Aboriginal people used to apply to water-holes to stupify their emu prey.

Bruce Pascoe and his Dark Emu will now be corralled off into the land of the ‘Mother Earth’ Gaians, and the ‘sustainability cultists’ , who in Australia are now starting to fuse with ‘pop-Aboriginal’ ideas to make a unique, ‘indigenous’ version of mumbo-jumbo. This space is the last refuge of all those crack-pot ideas that come and go from time to time, so we predict Professor Pascoe will be able to cultivate a following here that will see him out comfortably until his retirement. And good luck to him we say if it brings comfort to some people.

However, to our mind, a better location to park all the copies of Dark Emu is The Never Never, that vast, remote area of the Australian Outback, as described in Barcroft Boake's poem "Where the Dead Men Lie":

Out on the wastes of the Never Never -

That's where the dead men lie!

There where the heat-waves dance forever -

That's where the dead men lie!

* Yes dear readers, there has been a ‘strategic plan’ in the ‘scrutiny’ of Dark Emu. Those of us concerned Australians, who have been watching, over the past decade or so, the ‘corruption’ and degradation of some of our institutions, parts of the education system and in big corporations, decided to make a stand and use Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu as a test-case. And I think you will agree that we have succeeded brilliantly in the scrutiny, and ultimately the ‘holding to account’, of Professor Pascoe and his now obviously ludicrous Dark Emu Hoax. More on the ‘strategic plan’ will be posted in future.
